Dr. Hillary L. Glenn '89
Alumni Achievement Award
Executive Director of Point Washington Medical Clinic
Point Washington, Florida
Hillary L. Glenn, DNP, APRN-BC is an experienced and accomplished nurse practitioner with a diverse background. Currently, Dr. Glenn serves as the Executive Director of the Point Washington Medical Clinic, a non-profit primary care clinic in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, she co-founded in April 2017.
What began as a one-day-a-week operation has grown into a permanent $3 million facility providing over $3.5 million in healthcare services to her community. The clinic, staffed by more than 140 volunteers contributing 33,000 volunteer hours, saves the area over $5 million each year by averting emergency room visits. In this role, Dr. Glenn manages operations, fundraising, board and volunteers, and provides direct patient care.
In October 2018, Dr. Glenn led the organization's disaster relief efforts in Panama City, Florida, following the severe devastation caused by the category 5 Hurricane Michael. Both hospitals were shut, no pharmacies were open, and there were no primary care facilities in the area without severe damage. Dr. Glenn was able to coordinate volunteers and supplies to operate a pop-up full-time clinic in Panama City for more than five months while maintaining operations in Santa Rosa Beach. Creating partnerships with Direct Relief, Heart to Heart International, and Americares, the PWMC was able to get a “Clinic in a Can” with 2 exam rooms to operate out of the campus of St. Dominic’s Catholic church to see patients and dispense medications. The clinic served more than 1,300 residents, provided essential medications (like insulin), vaccinations (tetanus), and emergency care utilizing more than 3,000 volunteer hours.
In January of 2020, Dr. Glenn transitioned from volunteering with the PWMC to being the first official employee. Running the organization and seeing first-hand the growing community need, Dr. Glenn quickly realized the necessity for a permanent home for the clinic. She expanded clinic operations to a second day while starting the plan for a new, stand-alone facility. Then the pandemic hit and Dr. Glenn led the organization through another emergency. She again worked with partners to get needed supplies to meet the need for testing in the area. She worked to get a mobile medical unit (fondly referred to as “Felix”) for the sole use of testing so patients could be comfortable and private. As the pandemic transitioned into the new normal, Felix has become the infectious disease wing for the clinic.
In May 2022 with fundraising and planning at full speed, the clinic broke ground on the new facility, which opened to the public for visits in February 2024. Expansion to the new facility has allowed the additional services including a dental suite with three operatories, a healthy living educational program, cooking classes, mental health programming, wellness sessions, and art therapy.
Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Dr. Glenn has been a resident of Walton County, Florida, since 2009. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Interdisciplinary Studies from Miami University (1993), where she focused on Human Evolution and Development. She worked in hospitality in Washington, D.C., San Francisco, and New York City and traveled extensively prior to obtaining her degrees in nursing. She went on to earn a Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner (2007) from Columbia University, and her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Florida State University in 2013.
Dr. Glenn has more than 15 years of clinical experience caring for patients across the lifespan in primary care, urgent care, and emergency settings. She is certified in Functional Medicine by the Institute of Functional Medicine and is also a certified yoga instructor. Her favorite travels include spending six months in Southeast Asia, three months in India, climbing Kilimanjaro, and trekking to Mount Everest base camp. She currently resides in Point Washington with her husband Tamás Juhász.
