The Pippin Family

“When Phil and I attended our oldest child’s first Middle Division orchestra performance, I knew that Casady had tapped into something magical. The way the students organized themselves in their chairs, picked up their instruments, and with only the slightest of cues began to produce amazing music, highlighted how musical instruction can teach discipline, cooperation, and encourage creativity all at the same time. During the journey of our three sons through the Casady Orchestra program, it became apparent that the musical arts program is Casady’s hidden gem."
“Whether it was traveling to state orchestra contests or traveling with the Casady orchestra in Europe, our children acquired the life skills that pure academic instruction just cannot teach.  On one occasion in Ireland, the performance was moved from the small Anglican Church to the large Catholic Church (built after the repeal of the Irish Penal Code). To get to the performance our group of orchestra followers had to walk across what seemed like a long bridge (in the rain of course). This experience certainly demonstrated the power of music - that music can be a bridge between peoples and cultures. It is the opportunity for personal growth that makes musical instruction and musical experiences essential to any curriculum.”

Jeannette and Dick Sias
“My parents were great lovers of the performing arts and built much of their charitable giving around that theme.   My father described going to the “standing gallery” of the Old Metropolitan Opera as a window on another world, especially for a boy from Fredonia, Kansas. My mother loved Broadway theatre and patiently indulged my father’s love of opera. They created the Ad Astra Foundation in furtherance of the goal of supporting the performing arts.”
