Academics

Upper Division (9-12)

Casady School offers a 15-year experience intentionally designed to prepare students for success and to inspire young people to honor, to learn, to engage, to innovate, to serve, and to thrive.
Since 1947, the Casady Upper Division has prepared our students not just for academic success but for life beyond our campus. We prepare students for any challenge they may find in college, and we also understand that preparation requires more than academic rigor.
Our mission is to invigorate student curiosity about the world; to develop expertise in disciplines; and then to break the confines of disciplinary knowledge to create solutions. Ultimately, we aim to inspire each other to give back to our community.

Casady graduates are more than just students. They are athletes and artists. They develop and have an awareness of a spiritual and inner life of self reflection. They understand that knowing themselves is the first step to knowing each other.
At Casady, we operate as a community. We gather together daily in Chapel to pause, to reflect on who we are, and to celebrate vulnerability as much as excellence. We support our friends in performing arts, on the field, and in the gym. No student at Casady operates alone. For four years, each student has an adult, an advisor, who is with them weekly to help with all that a student may encounter from a grueling test to how to sign out for their driving test. You are part of a family at Casady.

Program Overview

Our Upper Division students are approaching college and life beyond our campus, and our Upper Division program is designed to build upon a foundation of prior learning while developing independence. To become independent learners ready for success in college and beyond, our students master key disciplinary content while also learning to read critically, problem-solve with perseverance, seek help from their teachers, and collaborate with their peers.

During the first two years in Upper Division, our students continue to build a strong foundation in core academic disciplines, studying essential content and skills that will prepare them to learn with increasing independence. During the Junior and Senior years, our students have a wealth of options to pursue their unique interests and talents. A variety of elective options in Math, Science, Technology, Humanities, Language, and the arts allow students to customize their path through Upper Division. We offer a variety of AP courses, and as a member school of the Malone Schools Online Network, Casady is also able to offer additional highly advanced and/or unique courses in partnership with the best Independent Schools in the country that would otherwise be unavailable to a high school student in our city.
