LD Explores the Wonders of Science

In a recent fourth grade Life Science lesson, Mrs. Mayernik engaged students with a video of a cat hunting a mouse, prompting questions about how the cat detects its prey.
Students considered whether the cat sees, smells, or hears the mouse, then explored how predators perceive their prey by building and observing a physical model using a box, flashlight, and ball. Developing models to explain natural phenomena is a key part of the Next Generation Science Standards, making this a valuable learning experience.
