Jeff Records Computer Science Center Blessing

The Casady Community recently gathered outside of the Jeff Records Computer Science Center to celebrate the blessing of the newly constructed space by The Rt. Rev. Poulson Reed, Bishop of Oklahoma and Father Youmans.
Remarks were given by Head of School Nathan L. Sheldon, Board Chair John Hart, and Computer Science Department Chair Robert Huber. To close the event, members of the Upper Division Choir sang the Casady Hymn.

“It is so exciting to realize the dream of having a dedicated Computer Science facility for Upper Division students,” Mr. Sheldon said. “It is only through the generosity of our community that we are able to stand here today and do the good work that we do.”

The new facility is an expansion of the Hightower Building and houses Upper Division’s computer science department and multi-use classroom space. Across the divisions, Casady continues to expand the implementation of a robust and vertically aligned Computer Science program to ensure our mission of preparing students with the skills and knowledge that serve as the foundation for success.

Computational thinking undergirds a variety of career-based thinking systems such as engineering, systems, and design. This Computer Science-oriented competency as well as the unique skills within the discipline of Computer Science are increasingly essential for students' readiness for college, careers, and civic and social engagement.
